Our second masterclass of the show weekend will focus on an area of the whisky world that is often ignored at festivals – Blended Scotch Whisky.
The class will be hosted by writer, and Whisky Show veteran, Dave Broom, who will be leading a panel of industry experts looking at the development of blended whisky over the last half a decade.
Blends are at the heart of the whisky industry and while single malts have come to the fore in recent times, behind that current popularity are a range of influential whiskies that brought our favourite spirit to the attention of the masses.
This class will offer a chance to both learn about the history of the brands and taste some blends from the 1950s, allowing you to see how changing tastes have affected the composition of the whiskies.
We will be sampling three pairs of blended whiskies, both the currently released version and a bottling from the middle of the 20th century, each introduced by one of our panel members:
This is not only a chance to try some of the blends that helped create the whisky industry that we know today but also hear their history from the folks who are continuing their traditions. A fantastic mix of education and great drams.
Tickets are now on sale.
Please note: You will need a ticket to the Saturday session of the show or a weekend ticket to attend the tasting.
