Our first masterclass of The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show weekend focuses on one of the world’s favourite distilleries – Talisker.
Join Colin Dunn of Diageo and discover the taste of Talisker through the ages, with a little malt and pepper. We’ll be contrasting the innocence of youth with the experience of old age, with Talisker exuding multi-layered flavours and aromas throughout its developing life.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to try some of the most coveted releases from a distillery loved around the world.
Please note: You will need a ticket to the Saturday session of the show or a weekend ticket to attend the tasting.
Talisker 8 years old
In the 1980s younger whisky was in vogue and Talisker bottled their regular expression at 8 years old. We’ve found a bottle of this classic and will be opening it to show how Talisker has changed over the years.
Talisker 18 Years Old
The step up in age from the classic 10 year old, still incredibly good value for money in the UK and one of our favourite whiskies. A fantastically balanced mix of smoke, sweetness and spice.
Talisker 1994 Managers’ Choice
Chosen by a conclave of Diageo distillery managers in February 2009, each single cask bottling in this range was selected to show off the distillery’s character. Unfortunately due to their price they seldom get opened, which we will correct during the class.
28 Years Old
A fantastically rare release of Talisker, with only 100 bottles hitting the market. Aged for 28 years and sold out almost immediately on release back in 2001, we’ve managed to track down one to taste.
